Event: PureGold Launch. 5 May 2014

The annual celebration of eclectic, innovative and exciting music coming out of Goldsmiths, University of London

PureGold will launch at the Southbank Centre on Monday 5 May from 3pm to 9pm. The launch event will provide members of the public a unique opportunity to see the musical talent of the future in an iconic venue in the heart of London.
Goldsmiths’ Department of Music has built an impressive reputation for itself in both the contemporary and classical music sectors in recent years, thanks to alumni including 2013 Mercury Prize winner James Blake, album chart topper Katy B, and War Horse composer Adrian Sutton.
Goldsmiths hopes to build on and celebrate this unique contribution with this year’s edition of PureGold. From baroque, opera and contemporary premiers, to singer-songwriters, electronica and installation, the musical talent on display at the PureGold musical festival will showcase the future of music. Placing the next generation of musical talent on London’s doorstep, the festival will kick off at the Southbank Centre.
Events will be going on from May to July across London including the Albany, Deptford, as well as at Goldsmiths itself.
